  • All our skin peels contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) which may increase your skins sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Because this product may make your skin more sensitive to the sun, be certain to have adequate sunscreen whilst using this product and for at least 6 weeks after you discontinue use. If you choose to sunbathe (Or use a sunbed) make sure the area you are treating is covered/shaded from the sun and ensure that you are using total block sun cream (on the area being treated )

  • Prior to applying the skin peel it is important to perform a skin patch test. Patch tests are an easy way to help predict if you will have a negative initial reaction to a new product. This must be done prior to applying any skin peel if any of the following applies:

    • You are new to the Eden Dermatology range of peels

    • Taken a break of more than 5 weeks from performing skin peels

    • Have experienced a change in skin sensitivity

    • Introduced a new product into your skin care regime

    • Started any medication that may increase skin sensitivity

A skin patch test must be done 48 hours prior to commencing a full skin peel. We recommend performing a patch test in the following areas:

    • 1 inch below the ear - If you are using the peel for the face

    • Wrist, Forearm, elbow or inner leg - if you are using the peel for areas of the body

To perform the patch test follow our 6 Step Peel Method Application Process on a small area of your skin.

It is normal for a little redness to occur along with a mild stinging sensation. If you experience any side effects such as irritation, burning or persistent itching after you have performed the patch test, discontinue use and contact us for further advice.

Please note: that the patch test is only for determining initial irritation reactions to products and does not guarantee similar results when applied to other areas of the body (including the face) or after continuous use. It does not account for underlying conditions and should not be used for the diagnosis of hypersensitivity or allergic contact dermatitis. If you are concerned about starting a new product, please consult a dermatologist prior to use.

  • When carrying out a skin peel treatment on your face, there are several observations you need to make. These include:

    • Skin sensitivity: Observe how your skin reacts to the skin peel treatment and if it becomes red, irritated, or inflamed. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue the treatment or reduce the concentration or duration of the treatment.

    • Skin texture: Observe the texture of your skin before and after the treatment. Skin peel treatments can help remove dead skin cells and smooth out rough skin texture.

    • Skin tone: Observe any changes in your skin tone after the treatment. Skin peel treatments can help improve skin tone and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation or dark spots.

    • Hydration: Observe how hydrated your skin is after the treatment. Skin peel treatments can cause dryness, so it is essential to follow up with a hydrating moisturiser.

    • Sun sensitivity: Observe how your skin reacts to sun exposure after the skin peel treatment. Your skin may be more sensitive to the sun, so it is vital to use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

It is important to monitor the effects of the skin peel treatment on your skin and adjust the concentration or duration of the treatment accordingly.

  • Prior to performing a skin peel, ensure you have everything ready and check that all liquids are dispensing from bottles, for example ensure pumps are working. This ensures maximum safety when it comes to neutralising the peel.

  • You must NOT shave for at least 12 hours prior to applying a skin peel as irritation or stinging may occur. If you have sensitive skin avoid shaving for 24 hours.

6 STEP METHOD

The process of applying the skin peel is relatively easy if you use our 6 step method:

  • Thoroughly cleanse the area using warm water, ensuring all makeup/creams/lotions (if applicable) are removed.

  • Apply a balm around the eyes and to the lips such as Vaseline to protect delicate areas.

  • Step 3 - Apply the skin peel to the area being treated and leave on for 1 to a maximum of 10 minutes - The amount of time will depend on how many consecutive treatments you have had.

For those who have just started using skin peels or if you are increasing strengths, you may want to leave the peel on for one minute initially, and then increase the time by a minute or two each time you undergo a single treatment until you reach the maximum time of ten minutes or until the peel is tolerable.

NOTE: You do not need to reach the full 10 minutes for the peel to work, if you are seeing results with a 30% peel for 3 minutes there is no need to increase the peel strength or time you leave the peel on.

During the treatment you may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation which will subside after just a few seconds.

  • Apply a neutraliser directly on top of the skin peel solution in circular motions. Leave on the skin for a minimum of 1 minute.

Please note: When you apply the neutraliser you may feel a light crackling sensation and sound on the skin. This is totally normal and is nothing to cause concern.

  • Thoroughly wash off the peel and re-cleanse the face ensuring you have washed off all the skin peel and neutraliser.

  • Apply a non-comedogenic light serum, moisturiser or aloe vera gel.

AFTERCARE

Aftercare is extremely important. Please ensure you follow the aftercare advice to maximise your treatment results.

  • Whilst undergoing treatment please ensure you use an SPF of 15 during the day and avoid high sun exposure. If you are visiting a warmer climate a higher SPF will be required.

  • Please avoid sun beds whilst undergoing treatment and for at least 7 days after treatment has ended.

  • Most people see results instantly after a 20% peel however it can take others up to 6 weeks, this depends on several factors such as skin type, condition, targeted treatment and age and how your skin reacts after the skin peel. After this period you will notice lasting results.

  • An acid skin peel may cause a mild stinging or tingling sensation, which should subside after a few minutes. If it becomes painful, rinse it off immediately and discontinue use.

  • Yes, you can use our peels with other skincare products, but you should avoid using other exfoliating products or retinoids at the same time to prevent over exfoliation and skin irritation.

  • No! It is not recommended to use AHA skin peels while pregnant or breastfeeding, as it can cause skin irritation and penetrate into the bloodstream.

  • When considering increasing the strength of a peel, it is vital to observe how your skin reacts to the current concentration. Here are some signs that indicate you may be ready to increase the strength of your peel:

    • Minimal or no skin irritation: If you have been using a low percentage acid peel and experiencing mild or no skin irritation or redness, it may be time to increase the strength.

    • Stable skin condition: If your skin condition has stabilised and is no longer experiencing acne, hyperpigmentation, or other skincare issues, you may consider increasing the strength of the peel.

    • Your skin has stabilised and you are no longer experiencing any results, you may consider increasing the strength of the peel.

    • Gradual improvement in skin texture: If your skin texture has improved over time, and it no longer feels rough or uneven, it may be time to increase the concentration of the acid peel.

    • No adverse reactions: If you have been using the peel for a while and are not experiencing any adverse reactions such as excessive dryness, flakiness, or burning, you may consider increasing the strength gradually.

Remember to always monitor your skin and adjust the strength of the acid peel accordingly. It is better to increase the strength gradually and evaluate the effects before proceeding to higher concentrations to prevent any adverse reactions.

  • The following information outlines how to increase strengths along with some points to consider before you commence onto a higher strength.

    • Each strength should be used weekly for a minimum of six weeks before assessing any results and before moving onto a higher strength.

    • Before moving onto a higher strength you must ensure you take a full week (7 days) between increasing the peel strength.

    • If you are happy with the results obtained at the current percentage you are currently on, you do not need to increase strengths, you should only increase strengths if you have not seen any further improvements. If you are continuing to see improvements you should continue to use the peel at the current strength you are using.

    • When increasing the strength to the next percentage you may want to leave the peel on for one minute initially, and then increase the time by a minute or two each time you undergo a single treatment until you reach the maximum time of ten minutes or until the peel is tolerable.

    • You do not need to reach the full 10 minutes for the peel to work its magic. For example, if you are seeing results with a 30% peel and are only leaving it on for 4 minutes there is not need to increase the peel strength or increase the treatment time.

  • If you have used the product correctly and built tolerance as recommended you should not experience any adverse side effects.

Although extremely rare, some clients may experience mild sloughing, producing some weeping or scabbing. Do not pick at any cuts or flakes on the skin as in rare occasions this may cause scarring or discoloration. This often occurs if the product has been left on for too long or has reacted with an ingredient in other products used prior to treatment.
